“Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat, where have you been?
I have been to London to look at the Queen…”
“Anything you can imagine, happens here in Brighton.” These were the words of a local gentlemen who helped us figure out the currency and our way around town. According to him, England doesn’t get any better than this. Brighton has the best weather, the best pubs and restaurants and it has a beautiful beach. We have been to town multiple times and there cannot get enough. “The Laines,” which are narrow streets in Brighton that has “dainty shoppes” have been explored on almost a daily basis. I am all about meeting new people and locals to truly immerse myself in the culture here. Thanks to the world cup, we have done so quite efficiently. Football is a public event here and all pubs are filled with people who wanna just have a beer, watch a good game and have a great time! Thanks to the enthusiasm, I also have the football fever and try not to miss out on any games.
This is my third full day in England. I absolutely love the campus here! It is mostly Californians that I meet and many of them are from UCI. However, I have made more friends! The university is in the town of Falmer, which is about twenty minutes away from the town of Brighton. We have been taking the bus there almost daily. Brighton is really cute city right by the beach! There are so many cute shops and a couple of historic Cathedrals too. The architecture in Brighton is remarkably historic. I cannot tell what era the houses were built in but people still occupy them!
The most popular part of town is called “The Laines.” There are many cute little shoppes and restaurants there that don’t sell mainstream products. The next most popular part of town is the Brighton Pier. The new pier has arcade games and rides for adults and children! It is really beautiful, after sun-down, to look from the end of the pier towards the city, because they city is outlined with yellow lamps!
There are so many places to shop and so many little streets. Even the main roads are much narrower that in the US. Buses are always double-deckers! They drive so close to all the vehicles and other buses.
The campus is in the countryside, so there are lots of slopes and little hills, all covered in green! The weather has been really kind for the past few days. The sunshine makes the countryside even prettier. These

I really want to get into some kind of developmental biology research lab. I am trying hard to find a professor who would take me in the lab despite of my low GPA. The counselors said, now is a good time to send those emails so that I have a lab when I get back to school in September.
I am really excited for Sussex, but there are lots of things that need to be taken care of before that.
